If I knew you were coming, I’d have baked a cake…

Vintage Songs

Lili grew up watching MGM movie musicals and listening to tales of her grandparents during World War Two. When she was a bit older, she trained as an opera singer but slipped from that shining path into the slinky cabaret nightspots.

It was in these grimy but gilded surroundings that she learned her craft and delved deep into her chosen field – usually the comedy songs of the 30s and 40s maybe with a little Liszt or perhaps a bit of Lehrer.

Shows

Lili has created several shows of Vintage Songs; ‘War Notes’ which enjoyed a season at the Edinburgh Fringe and later a run at the Tristan Bates Theatre. ‘Songs to Make You Smile’ was highly acclaimed and won many awards at Fringes worldwide. ‘Siren’ leaned into Lili’s classical roots and coming soon for 2024 is ‘Wish Me Luck’ a jaunt through the life and songs of Gracie Fields.

She can tailor a set of songs to suit any occasion from jolly old songs, to not so jolly old songs, to downright silly old songs. She just loves old songs, the more unusual the better! If you fancy, she can bring a band…the finest band in the land…

Vintage Style

As well as the music, Lili is a huge vintage clothing fan and she never met a 1940s suit she didn’t like. From her earliest collecting days when she was at a well known conservatoire she spent hours on American eBay taking advantage of her student loan and the rather wonderful exchange rate of the early 00’s.

Now she has an enviable collection of slowly deteriorating, nearly century old, clothes.

Has she done much?

Lili has held London residences at The Rosewood Hotel, The Hotel Café Royal, The Café de Paris and Proud Cabaret to name but a few. She has also appeared with solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, Buxton Fringe, Norfolk & Norwich Festival, Wilderness Festival, The World Buskers Festival (NZ), Lund Comedy Festival (SWE) and The Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend (USA).

She’s also been a celebrated and award winning emcee on the cabaret and burlesque circuit for nearly fifteen years.

Television credits include ‘All Together Now’ on BBC1.

Send me a telegram…

Do say hello as you pass by, it would be lovely to hear from you. I’m always up for daft adventures so don’t be afraid to drop me a line.

I only do show admin on a Thursday and I don’t answer work related emails after 5 o’clock in the afternoon. I know you’ll understand – all work and no play makes Lili a very dull woman. I jest, there’s no play – just housework and homework…
